Dr. John Bangs
Founding Partner
Meet Dr. John Bangs, the Founder and Principal Partner of JKB Consulting Group, LLC. With nearly 40 years of experience and expertise under his belt, John is a trusted source of insights for his clients. But his contributions go beyond that - he is a dynamic innovator and a creative thinker who is always seeking new programs, approaches, and strategies to tackle the ever-rising healthcare costs and challenges that employers face, particularly in the post-COVID-19 work culture.
Prior to establishing JKB Consulting Group, John spent three decades as a faculty member at the University of Missouri, where he taught Risk and Insurance in the Department of Finance at the Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business. During his tenure, he also ran his own consulting business, creating employer-funded plans for groups of all sizes, from small franchisees to major municipalities in the Midwest. John has served in numerous roles throughout his career, including as Principal Investigator for the Federal Health Care Reform Network, Board Member for an independent Physician/Provider Network in Missouri, and Founder of US-Telemed, an international telemedicine company. John's wealth of experience and pioneering spirit make him an invaluable asset to his clients and the industry as a whole.
Sheldon Lee

Meet Sheldon Lee, a seasoned benefits consultant with a deep-seated passion for empowering employers to cut down their healthcare and benefits expenses, while encouraging employees to prioritize their health and wellbeing. Sheldon's personal journey of losing both his parents to critical illnesses has driven him to devote his expertise to seeking practical solutions that reduce healthcare costs, with a strong focus on preventative benefits programs that can curb claims costs. His core area of focus is on business development, particularly on expanding the team of dedicated brokers and partners at JKB Consulting Group who are subject matter experts in the field. Sheldon's unwavering commitment to his work is rooted in his personal mission to create positive change in the healthcare industry and make a meaningful impact on the lives of his clients and their employees.
Erik Hasselquist
Director, Sales
(West Region)
Meet Erik Hasselquist, a proud grandson of dairy farmers on both sides, was born and raised in the Midwest where he spent his childhood working on the family farms. He later earned a full scholarship to attend Arizona State University, where he graduated Magna cum Laude with honors. Erik went on to attend the Cleveland Institute of Music in Ohio where he received numerous performance achievement awards. Following graduate school, Erik worked as a freelancer, performing with the Cleveland Orchestra, before enlisting in the US Army, which ultimately brought him and his family to Washington State. After his military service, Erik transitioned to the employee benefits industry in 2014 and has since enjoyed serving his clients with industry-leading solutions to their benefits challenges. Erik is happily married to a wonderful wife from Kenya, and together they have two incredible children. In his free time, Erik loves exploring the Pacific Northwest's natural beauty with his family, often finding himself among the trees or along the water.
